Second round of parliamentary elections to be held on 10 January
The Central Election Commission held a session on 30 December to
consider the preliminary results of the elections of the Legislative
Chamber and the holding second round of elections in separate districts.

Statement by H.E. Ambassador Sukru Tufan, Head of the OIC Observer Mission to the Parliamentary Elections in Uzbekistan
Upon the invitation from the Uzbek Government, the OIC participated with a Mission of Observer that I have the honour to lead in the monitoring of the parliamentary elections which took place on 27 December 2009.
Elections held successfully
At 8 pm Sunday, voting at elections of the deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local councils completed at all polling stations in Uzbekistan.
Ecological Movement holds conference on elections to parliament
Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan holds a conference in Tashkent to
elect 15 deputies to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis. Delegates
elected at territorial branch conferences of Ecological Movement in
Republic of Karakalpakstan, in regions and Tashkent city,
representatives of Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan (CEC), as well as observers and media representatives are participating in the conference.
President Islam Karimov votes at elections
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov cast his vote at the elections of the deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis and Tashkent city council. The head of the state voted at the polling station No.644 on Sunday morning.
“I am sure the principles of justice and transparency will be strictly observed during today’s elections,” the President said. “Elections mean a free voting with deep understanding of one’s rights. By participating in the elections, we not only realize our right to vote, guaranteed by the Constitution, but also acknowledge our responsibility for the future of our Motherland.”
Voting continues at elections in Uzbekistan
79.4% of the registered voters cast their votes at the elections of the deputies of the Legislative Chamber and local people’s deputies’ councils in Uzbekistan as of 5 pm on Sunday.
