Nation Solemnly Marks Constitution Day, President Addresses Nation
On December 5 this year the grand meeting dedicated to the 17th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place in the city of Tashkent. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov took part at it with taking a floor on the related topic. Central Election Commission holds session
The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan held a session to consider the registration of observers from international organizations for the elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis.
In accordance with article 6 of the law on elections to the parliament,
observers from political parties participating in elections,
representatives of the mass media, as well as observers from foreign
states, international organizations and movements may participate in
all events related to preparation and conduction of the elections.
The
Central Election Commission registered the mission of observers from
the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in the
quantity of 13 persons.
British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Visits CEC

Candidates for Members of Parliament Get Registered
517 candidates will run for 135 seats in the Legislative Chamber

The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a session to consider the issue of registration of candidates to deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis last week.
The commission said it had carefully checked the documents presented by the political parties for registration of the candidates and their compliance with requirements of the legislation.
Upon the inspection and in compliance with Article 26 of the Law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, the Central Election Commission took decision on registering a total of 517 candidates to deputies, including 123 candidates from Adolat Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, 125 from Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, 135 from UzLiDeP Businessmen Movement – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and 134 from the People’s Democratic Party.

Territorial conferences take place in regions
Conferences in territorial offices of the Ecology Movement of Uzbekistan take place these days in regions of the republic. By means of secret vote on the contested basis they elect delegates to take part in the Conference on December 27 where 15 representatives of Ecology Movement will be elected to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis.
