Delegation of Uzbekistan observed presidential elections in Turkmenistan

At the invitation of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan, the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, on February 10-13, 2017 the delegation of Uzbekistan consisting of the Chairman of the CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan M.Abdusalomov, a member of the CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Justice of Karakalpakstan J.Sadikov and the Chairman of the Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis I.Abdullaev took part in the international observation of the presidential elections in Turkmenistan, which took place on February 12, 2017.

Elections were conducted in accordance with the Constitution and the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, as well as other normative legal acts.

The electoral process was observed by 3,223 local observers and 151 observers from foreign countries and international organizations such as the UN, CIS, SCO, OIC and OSCE ODIHR.

The members of the delegation of Uzbekistan visited 32 polling stations in Ashgabat and Dashoguz regions, got acquainted with the process of opening of polling stations, voting and counting of votes.

According to the information of Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan, 3,228,866 voters were included in the list of voters, 71,685 of them for the first time. The voting was attended by 3,140,865 voters, which is 97.27% of the number of citizens included in the voters list.

According to preliminary information of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan 97.69% of the voters voted for the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
