Electronic register of voters to be created in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan plans to create a single electronic voter list in 2018.

The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures to establish and maintain the Single Electronic List of Voters of the Republic of Uzbekistan".

According to the document, the single electronic voter list of the Republic of Uzbekistan is being created within the framework of the project on creation of the Electronic Government system.

The system will be tested during the elections to the district councils of People’s Deputies of Tashkent in December 2017.

The resolution noted that a single electronic voter list will be created across the country by April 2018. The system is updated once a year, and during the election campaign, according to the schedule approved by the Central Election Commission.

Each voter will be assigned a personal identification number. The electronic register will include citizens of Uzbekistan, who have reached the age of 18, capable persons and persons, who are not in places of deprivation of liberty and who have permanent or temporary housing in the country.

The project will be financed from resources of the Information and Communication Technologies Development Fund, as well as grants of the Republic of Korea to assist in the technical support of the single electronic voter list.
